1/8/2010 Enjoy a Slower Pace and the Outdoors at Edisto This Spring

Here, expansive marsh views and a three-mile long pristine beach offer scenic vistas, a slower pace of life and temperate climate year-round.  Visitors find that Edisto is an idyllic setting for a wedding on one of the area plantations, or for golf outings, or simply to sample regional cuisine and delicacies. Outdoor lovers enjoy camping under the stars at the state park or kayaking and fishing along the waterways. Trip Advisor named Edisto Beach as one of the top 10 beaches in the U.S., and it can only be reached by travelling through the scenic live oak canopy along Highway 174, recently designated as a National Scenic Byway.

For those looking to fully immerse themselves in the Edisto way of life, engaging events abound.  March 25-28 brings the Edisto Art Guild Players’ theater production, this year featuring “Bull in a China Shop,” and the Edisto Art Guild Spring Show and Sale attracts local and regional artists Easter weekend.  The Easter Sunrise service offers a beautiful way to celebrate the holiday while watching the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean, and on May 1 the streets come alive with the Edisto Day Bazaar.

A complete listing of Edisto Island and Edisto Beach events for spring 2010 follows.  For more information, visitors are encouraged to call the Edisto Chamber of Commerce at 843-869-3867 or 1-888-333-2781 or visit www.edistochamber.com.
