Edisto Beach State Park
Edisto Beach is one of four oceanfront state parks in South Carolina. The park is made up of 1,255 acres of land, featuring trails for hiking and biking that provide a wonderful tour of the state park. The park boasts 1.5 miles of beachfront where you can collect as many shells as you want. The State Park is also home to white-tailed deer, raccoons, and opossum. It is also a nesting area for loggerhead sea turtles.

The Environmental Learning Center
The State Park has an interactive Environmental Learning Center you can access from the Live Oak Landing site off of Palmetto Road. The ELC is a “green” building with exhibits about the natural history of Edisto and the surrounding ACE Basin. The ELC offers programs for youth and adults to learn more about South Carolina’s natural and cultural resources. They also offer hands-on interactive exhibits, a touch tank, and a movie theater. Be sure to check out the hiking trails, which are easy for anyone to access, and visit the Bache Monument, a 4,000-year-old shell midden, that’s on the trail system. They have a full calendar of events each month, be sure to check it out before you plan your trip!
